Whether you volunteer once a month or once a week, your involvement will help expand community outreach programs, raise critical dollars to fund our mission and provide high quality care to the animals in our shelters.
Types of Volunteers and Duties
- Administrative Assistance - Assist with filing, mailings, data entry, completing paperwork, returning phone calls and other specialized projects.
- Adoption Advocate - Promote adoptable animals by attending adoption events, distributing flyers, and posting on social media.
- Adoption Event Volunteer (Offsite) - Assist staff at various adoption events with set up, maintaining the safety of the dogs, answering questions from the public, and exercising/entertaining the dogs.
- Adoption Matchmaker- Help match potential pet owners with dogs or cats at the shelter by answering questions, discussing compatibility and interpreting information on kennel cards.
- Animal Photographer and Pet Profile Writer - Takes pictures of adoptable animals and writes descriptions that will appeal to potential adopters
- Cat Socialization – Provide human contact to cats and assist staff members with basic care.
- Community Cat Program | Trap-Neuter-Return Volunteer - Help with trapping, transporting to our clinic (use of your own vehicle required), fostering kittens, and feeding cat colonies.
- Community Outreach – Participate in community events to promote spaying & neutering, vaccinations, monthly adoption promotions and responsible pet ownership.
- Dog Bather and Groomer - Groom and bathe animals available for adoption (primarily dogs)
- Dog for the Day – Take a dog to the park or your home wearing a leash, harness, and an "adopt-me" vest.
- Doggie Jog - Take the shelter dogs out for some fresh air and exercise every Tuesday on a group jog.
- Dog Walker – Provide dogs with exercise and help develop leash manners.
- Foster Parent - Care for animals in their home while they await adoption.
- Laundry Attendant - Assist with loading washers and dryers and folding towels, blankets, and sheets.
- LifeLine Ambassador - Attend special events and educate the public about the Animal Shelter programs.
- Transport Volunteer – Use their own vehicles to transport animals to veterinary appointments, rescue groups or offsite adoption events.
- Weekend Warriors - Care for animals for at least four days in their home while they await adoption.
