Probate Court - North Fulton Service Closed Starting October 23

The Fulton County Probate Court Office at the North Fulton Service Center located at 7741 Roswell Road will be closed for renovation starting Monday, October 23. The last day of services will be Friday, October 20.

The reopening date for the North Service Center location will be announced when additional information is available.

Fulton County Probate Court offices at the Fulton County Government Center, 141 Pryor Street, and the office at the South Fulton Service Center, 5600 Stonewall Tell Road, will remain open. For more information, visit the Fulton County Probate Court website.


Probate Court - Early Office Closure

Fulton County Probate Court will close at 1 p.m. for our annual employee retreat on December 8, 2023. The last wedding ceremony will take place at 12:30 p.m.

Probate Court will resume full operations on Monday, December 13, 2023.

Forever Fridays- Free Wedding Ceremonies Every Friday- No Appointment Needed

Beginning August 4, 2023, couples wishing to exchange vows are invited to walk down the aisle every Friday in Probate Court. With no appointment needed, any happy couple will be able to celebrate the joy of their love every Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Those exchanging vows are allowed to invite up to 6 guests to witness their wedding. The ceremony will be free to all couples with a Fulton County marriage license.


We are pleased to announce the following new and revised initiatives in the Fulton County Probate Court to provide a better customer service experience for attorneys and customers.

  • Appointments are now required for all Estate Services.
    • All other probate services are available on a walk-in basis daily.
  • Appointments are available but not required for Marriage License and Weapons Carry License Services at the downtown location only.

  • North & South Annex locations have resumed the intake only of Estate and Guardianship Services.
    • Probate services do not require an appointment at both Annex locations no appointment necessary.
    • An ‘Attorney Liaison Team’ was created to schedule and process complex attorney filings. Attorneys accompanying clients may make estate appointments through the Attorney Liaison Team email at Probate.AttorneyLiason@fultoncountyga.gov.
  • WALK-IN WEDNESDAYS
    • No Appointment Needed for estate Services every Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
    • Customers can file in-person all Estate matters without an appointment on Wednesdays during business hours.
  • Testamentary Letters will be completed within 45 days of filing.
    • To serve customers on a first-filed basis, same-day testamentary letters are no longer available.
  • For Estate Service inquiries and status checks after 45 days, please email Probate.Estates@fultoncountyga.gov for a faster response.
  • Virtual oaths are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays via Zoom.

E-File for Estate Petitions

The following petitions can be filed electronically:

  • Petition for Letters of Administration
  • Petition for Order Declaring No Administration Necessary
  • Petition for Year’s Support
  • Petition to Probate Will in Common Form
  • Petition to Probate Will in Solemn Form

E-file is for newly established estates. Currently we are unable to file into already established estates, or file new petitions into older estates.

Estate Filings at Annex Locations

Probate Court has resumed the intake of estate petitions at both the North and South Service Center offices. Clerks will be available to receive, docket, and bill incoming petitions as well as take oaths of fiduciaries. No appointment necessary, times and locations can be found here.

Mailed Estate Petitions

Mailed estate petitions must contain the appropriate fees, or it will be returned. Please review the fee schedule prior to submitting an estate by mail.

Special Attorney Liaison Team for Estates

Probate Court has designated a dedicated ‘Attorney Liaison Clerk’ for attorney and paralegal customer service. Appointments for initial filings only (Petition for Letters of Administration, Petition for Order Declaring No Administration Necessary, Petition for Year’s Support, Petition to Probate Will, and Petition to Open Safe Deposit Box) and status updates can be obtained by contacting Probate.AttorneyLiason@fultoncountyga.gov.

Welcome to the Probate Court of Fulton County, Georgia. One of the many functions of the Probate Court is to ensure that estates and guardianships are administered in accordance with the law. The judge of the Probate Court makes determinations in all controversies involving estates of decedents and guardianships and/or conservatorships of minors and adults by conducting trials & hearings, both with and without a jury.

The mission of the Fulton County Probate Court is to work in the best interests of Fulton’s families and futures. The Probate Court has exclusive jurisdiction over the following:

  • Probate of wills of decedents.
  • Appointment and removal of administrators and executors of decedents’ estates.
  • Appointment and removal of guardians and/or conservators of minors and adults.
  • Audit of returns of executors, administrators, and conservators.
  • Issuance of marriage licenses and weapons carry licenses.
  • Miscellaneous duties such as issuance of fireworks permits, certificates of residence, and recording of elected officials’ oaths and bonds.

We will be happy to assist you with any questions or concerns that you may have about probate court services or procedures.
