The Fulton County Board of Commissioners will hold three public hearings for its 2022 millage rate. Fulton County’s proposed millage rate for 2022 is 9.33 mills, the same as the 2021 millage rate.
Because Fulton County has had a strong track record of lowering its millage rate over many years to offer taxpayer relief, the 2022 proposed rate is a full mill lower than Fulton County’s General Fund millage rate 5 year ago (10.38 mills).
The proposed rate is higher than the full rollback rate for 2022 and will be advertised as a tax increase as required by law. Fulton County will hold three public hearings.
Like all organizations, Fulton County’s operational costs are increasing. To address “The Great Resignation” and associated employee retention issues, personnel costs have increased significantly. In addition, international supply chain issues have driven up costs for basic supplies, such as fuel and paper.
Fulton County has also faced increased costs due to rising crime rates, which have resulted in a higher population within the Fulton County Jail and increased cases within the justice system.
After three public hearings, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners will set the millage rate at their August 17 meeting. The public hearings will be held on the following dates. Residents may attend in person at the Fulton County Government Center, 141 Pryor Street, SW, Atlanta, GA 30303, or via Zoom using the links provided.
