Fulton County kicked off a $20 million restoration of its historic Louis R. Slaton Courthouse, which opened in 1914. Chairman Robb Pitts, Vice Chairman Lee Morris and Commissioner Liz Hausmann were on hand to announce the new phase of the restoration.
Chief Judge Robert C. McBurney, Chief Magistrate Magistrate Court Judge Cassandra Kirk, Clerk of Superior Court Tina Robinson, County Manager Dick Anderson, Chief Operating Officer Anna Roach and courthouse staff attended the event to hear the project update.
The restoration will use the terracotta stonework and return the roof to its original slate material. The two year long project to repair the century old structure was funded by the County’s Urban Redevelopment Bond which is dedicated to Infrastructure Improvements in the County’s downtown facilities.
