Fulton County Commissioner Natalie Hall, District 4, has been appointed to serve as an ex officio Committee Member of the Atlanta Detention Center Task Force (ACDC) by the City of Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. As a member, she will be charged with evaluating the repurposing of the Atlanta City Detention Center that would benefit the entire community and serve as a Center for Equity – equipping residents with the tools they need to succeed.
“I am proud that Mayor Bottoms has appointed me to serve on this very important Task Force,” stated Commissioner Natalie Hall, District 4. “The Detention Center is located in my District, and I recognize the importance of ensuring that the facility is maintained and used as a place that will positively benefit my constituents.”
Commissioner Hall joins 14 other ex officio members who will bring their trusted insight, expertise, and government service to the Task Force. Commissioner Hall also stated that she supports Mayor Bottoms’ vision to put this underutilized facility to more productive use as a multi-faceted use center for wellness and healing, skills-building, economic mobility, and crime prevention for people, families, and communities impacted by the history of over-incarceration.
The panel members reflect a cross section of residents from various areas of the community including government, business, education, and entertainment; each of whom is invested in constructive solutions for what should be done with the facility. The first meeting of the Atlanta Detention Center Task Force is scheduled for Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at 4 p.m. in the Atlanta City Hall in the Old Council Chambers on the 3rd Floor of Atlanta City Hall Tower, 68 Mitchell Street SW; Atlanta, GA 30303.
