How do i qualify for developmental DISABILITIES?

Depending on the services you need, you may qualify for a Comprehensive Supports Waiver (COMP) or New Options Waiver (NOW).  An application must be completed with the DBHDD department along with supporting documentation of the developmental disability, which goes to the intake and evaluation office in your region. These forms can be located online or by contacting the region where you live. Once a determination has been made, a letter will be sent to you notifying you of your eligibility.

How do I enroll an individual with a developmental disability in services once he has been approved with a NOW or COMP waiver in Fulton County?

You will be given a provider’s list and can choose where you would like to receive services.   We will assign a Support Coordinator to help you access services based on the needs of the individual.  If you decide that you want an individual to attend one of the Fulton county training centers, you will be provided a tour of the facility as well as the opportunity to ask questions about the type of services that we provide to individuals in the program.

An interview will be scheduled to obtain information about the type of services that the individual will need to determine a match with appropriate services. A medical doctor will meet with the individual, family and/or caregiver to ensure that we are able to meet the mental, physical, and medical needs of the individual prior to acceptance into the program.  The staff receives ongoing training in best practices to provide high quality and competent services and treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
