Reducing Homelessness in Fulton County, GA

The Fulton County Department of Community Development partners with more than 40 organizations to provide services for homeless individuals and families.

Homelessness is a complex issue that affects communities across the nation. Fulton County is committed to solutions to support people experiencing homelessness and provide long-term solutions through a three-pronged approach:

  1. Collaboration—with all of the local agencies and non-profits serving homeless populations we will know what we are all doing, avoid duplication and work as one system vs. silos.
  2. Leading with service. Ultimately the way to reduce homelessness will be to help people get well and find housing, followed by jobs and services needed to keep them in their housing.
Our goal is to reduce the number of people experiencing homelessness and to provide an effective and efficient system to get them help/housed.
  3. Maximizing Existing Services. Seeking new ideas for creating a more efficient system of helping people, with Police and Courts playing important leadership roles.
